How Composure Works

1. Bring your story

Upload your manuscript (.md, .docx, .pdf, .txt, .fountain and more), paste text you have, or start from nothing and let the Foundry build your canon from plain questions. Works for novels, novellas, memoirs, and screenplays.

2. The First Reading

If you bring a draft, First Reading builds your Story Brain: characters, canon, a scene map, relationships, and themes. You see progress as it works; timing varies with the material and workload. Treat the reading as a perspective to discuss, not a verdict. First Reading is free during open beta. Starting from an idea? Develop it with Atlas and Foundry instead.

3. The Prism Spectrum Analysis

Your work gets scored through eight structural lenses: need, want, question, obstacle, choice, theme, change, and structure. The result is a minted, exportable analysis that shows what is carrying weight and where to dig next. It lives in your project, where you can revisit it as the story evolves. Scores are interpretive, not a measure of artistic worth.

4. Write with Atlas

Write and develop with Atlas using your project context: what does a character know in chapter nine, where did you plant a clue, or which scenes carry the theme? Explore the implications of a change with Ripple, review the proposed updates, and approve what belongs in the project. Automatic snapshots support recovery.

What Composure will never do

It never writes your story uninvited. Any document can be locked against the AI entirely. And your writing is never used to train AI models, ours or anyone's. That commitment is written into our terms of service.
