Privacy Policy

The short version

Your writing is yours. We store it to run the app for you, we never train AI models on it, we never sell your data, and Composure shows no ads. We do study how the app is used — never the substance of what you write — to make it better.

What we collect

Account: email, display name, and a hashed password (we never store the password itself). If you signed up via Google, we receive your email from Google.
Your content: the manuscripts, story documents, wiki pages, and chats you create — stored so the Service can work.
Usage data: AI usage records ("ink"), feature and activity timestamps, error logs, and — if you chose to answer — how you found Composure.
Payments: handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.

How we use it

To operate the Service (storing and processing your content is the product); to improve it using usage patterns and performance data; to email you about your account — verification, password resets, and occasional reminders if your account has been inactive (reply to any reminder to opt out); and to keep the Service secure. We will never use your writing, stories, or content to train AI models, and we never sell personal data. Composure is ad-free.

Who processes data on our behalf

To run Composure, data passes through a small set of service providers: Render (application hosting and storage), Amazon Web Services (encrypted nightly backups, S3), Stripe (payments), Resend (email delivery), Google (optional sign-in), and AI model providers — Anthropic, OpenRouter / Z.AI, and MiniMax — which receive the relevant portions of your content needed to fulfill each AI request you make. We use these providers' business/API services, which do not grant them rights to train on your content under their applicable terms.

Cookies

One session cookie, to keep you signed in. No advertising trackers, no third-party analytics cookies.

Retention

Your content is kept while your account is active. Deleted projects move to a recoverable trash for about 30 days before permanent deletion; encrypted backups roll off on roughly a 30-day cycle. To delete your account and its data, email us and we'll complete it promptly.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access to production systems is restricted, and complete snapshots of your projects are backed up nightly. No system is perfectly secure, but your work's safety is a design principle here, not an afterthought.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Your choices

Export your documents from the app at any time; correct your account details in Settings; opt out of reminder emails by replying to one; request access to or deletion of your data at the address below.
